AKF to build shelter homes in Thatta

THATTA: District Nazim Syed Shafqat Hussain on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the shelter homes in Ketibundar, which is being constructed by the Aga Khan Foundation for the homeless. Shafqat lauded the role of the Aga Khan Foundation for extending its services to the people of backward and remote areas. He said about 250 poor and homeless families will be accommodated in these shelter houses.

Chitral Relief Distribution - In June 2007, Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) provided emergency relief in collaboration with local government authorities in Pakistan’s remote North Western district of Chitral after 78 villagers lost their lives and over 30 were seriously injured i n avalanche struck areas. Responding to the government’s request for additional assistance, FOCUS distributed essential food, kitchen and shelter items to families who lost their food reserves and roofing on their houses. This first distribution phase included flour, rice, tea, sugar, oil, kitchen utensils and galvanised iron sheets and was held at the Governors House in Chitral.
